Hello little web,
I took this video on one of our daily morning walks. I noticed a couple leaves moving differently than the other variegated tangle of leafy plants, so I went over to take a closer look. Dumbfounded is probably the best word for my reaction because these moths were as large as my hand! Maybe even bigger than my hand if I include their wingspan. (I wish I included scale in the video)

I felt a wonder that filled my soul, I was elated. Later, I learned that these members of my neighborhood are Imperial Moths eacles imperialis and it’s no wonder I have never seen them before in my almost twenty years of living in Asheville -they are nocturnal and live in their adult form for only a few days – a few days!!
In honor of these little guys, my next year (hello 2026) is dedicated to play. What does play have to do with imperial moths? Well, the only reason I saw them is because I was fully present in our walk – no headphones, no phone call. I was willing to see. Some people think play means you are not taking anything seriously, but play is purposeful, play removes judgement, and play gives us permission to look at all angles. I was open to the invitation.
So, I will be interpreting my reality with play, with lightheartedness, and with laughter. Humor thrives in hard times, uncertain times – and I personally need play to keep me going right now. Why be rigid to the world when play can dramatically change my wellbeing and offer me the world I need, that I hope for?
Bounty & Soul – It’s my one year anniversary with this organization, and they absolutely know how to bring joy and play into work. Bounty & Soul provides free veggies and fruit to residents across Buncombe County (12 markets!) and since the hurricane, the amount of families that they serve has doubled. During the Christmas season, a one hour market alone gives over 120+ families fresh whole foods and presents for their children. If you need an end of year contribution, please consider this organization.
The guide book Walk Her Way New York City is out and I’m still in love with the cover. If you didn’t know, you can walk NYC without a phone with Walk Her Way, a map is included for each neighborhood – for us analog striving folks! Also, the yoga retreats for San Miguel de Allende, MX in January 2026 are full – more info on 2027 soon, not sure where we are going yet but a little bird told me somewhere tropical. <3
I’m with frog!
Hugs & Muppet Kisses,
